Garter has predicted that making money from apps will soon get tougher with the presence of a number of apps for the consumers to choose from.

Ken Dulaney, vice president and distinguished analyst of Gartner said that by 2018, less than 0.01% of consumer mobile apps will be considered a financial success by their developers.

According to the predications made by Gartner, by 2017, 94.5% of downloads will be for free apps, Tech Crunch reported.

Ken Dulaney, vice president and distinguished analyst of Gartner said that most mobile applications are not generating profits as many of these mobile apps are used to build brand recognition and product awareness or are just for fun, TC reported.

The analyst further predicted that atleast half of latest web apps will have complex client-side JavaScript in the next three years. If this happens, mobile browsers will move on to high quality apps with a good-quality user experience.

The "platform-neutral" option of developing browser-based apps, using technologies such as HTML5, has its own share challenges.

Gartner warns that by 2017 the mobile browser would be used as "a sophisticated application delivery platform" and HTML5 will be" somewhat-standardized".
