English football club Leicester City has reportedly been promoted to the Premier League after a combination of results in the Football Championship level, where they were situated earlier, went in the club's favour.

Leicester, which beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on Friday, needed Queens Park Rangers to lose at Bournemouth and Derby County to fail to win at Middlesbrough, and they will now line up in the top flight for the first time in 10 years next season.

According to the BBC, the club, which is managed by former England player Nigel Pearson, has earned their place in the Premier League with six games of the season remaining having won 27 of their 40 games so far.

The report mentioned that Leicester has scored more goals-76- than any other Championship team, conceded 38 goals and has kept 14 clean sheets in league matches.

Hailing the promotion, former England and Leicester striker Gary Lineker, who scored 95 goals for the club, tweeted that he has been waiting for the 'sentence' for ten years.
