Brushing aside rumours surrounding his retirement from international cricket, West Indies swashbuckling opener Chris Gayle has asserted that he hasn't retired from any format, and is determined to play the T20 World Cup for his country next year.

Battling a recurring back injury, Gayle said that he definitely wanted to play the T20 World Cup next year for West Indies, adding that he has got a few concerns and a few injuries to try and solve, Sport24 reported.

The left-handed explosive batsman smacked the first World Cup double century (215) against Zimbabwe and scored a blistering 33-ball 61 runs in his country's 143-run defeat to New Zealand in the World Cup quarterfinal.

Gayle admitted that he was actually out of the Test series against England next month, claiming that the back won't hold up for that format at this point in time.

The big-hitting batsman, however, insisted that he hasn't retired from any format as yet, and he would keep informing the West Indies Cricket Board about his progress in the future with West Indies cricket.
