Ex Indian Lieutenant General Kuldeep Singh Brar, who headed Operation Blue Star at Golden Temple in Amritsar in 1984 to take down Sikh separatists, has reportedly refuted claims of UK link.

The general shunned the allegations saying that there is no question of Thatcher administration advising the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at the time of the raid.

The alleged involvement of UK surfaced after MP Tom Watson claimed that he had seen declassified documents stating the same, the BBC reported.

While British Prime Minister David Cameron has ordered investigations following the allegations, Brar expressed his amazement at the revelations and said that he did not believe the documents to be authentic.

Brar reiterated that the operation was planned and executed entirely by military commanders of the Indian army.

The claims were made by Watson after he read two letters published on the blog Stop Deportations that was released under the 30-year rule.

The UK government has said that the cabinet secretary will investigate the matter to bring forth the facts as quickly as possible.
