'A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder' and 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch' are among the top contenders for the Tony Awards.
The nominations were announced for the 68th annual Tony Awards and Neil Patrick Harris, Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald, Chris O'Dowd, Sutton Foster and Woody Allen made it to the list, with Mark Rylance landing a double nod.
According to the Hollywood Reporter the musical comedy was nominated for best musical, original score, book and direction, as well as lead actor for both Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham and featured actress for Lauren Worsham, while 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch' earned 8 nominations, including and lead actor in a musical for Neil Patrick Harris, who has hosted the awards four times, as the eponymous transgender East Berlin punk rocker.
The Harlem Jazz Age revue 'After Midnight' landed seven nominations, as did Carole King Musical 'Beautiful', 'The Glass Menagerie' and 'Twelfth Night'.
