A 'God is Dead' project in Georgia high school that sparked outrage among some students and parents will not be taken down.

Alcovy High School leaders said they will meet with students and parents to explain the context behind a poster featuring the quote, 'God is Dead' from Arthur Miller's play 'The Crucible,' Fox News reports.

Crystal Mitchell, a student's parent, said that the poster made her daughter very comfortable.

She added that if her child can't pray in school and they've taken religion out of school, for this to be plastered on the walls of school, is a huge concern for her.

According to the report, but the school contested that thousands of students read the book each year, and the project is meant as a reflection of the play, not as a religious statement.

Mitchell said the school's decision to educate students on Miller's play about the Salem Witch trials and the hunt for Communists during the McCarthy era is 'not a total loss on our end', but still hopes the school will take the posters down, the report added.
