Germanwings crash: Lubitz had received treatment for 'suicidal tendencies'

Investigators have revealed that the co-pilot of the crashed Germanwings plane, Andreas Lubitz, had received treatment for suicidal tendencies before getting his pilot licence.

Duesseldorf public prosecutor Christoph Kumpa however, added that in the following period and until recently, further doctor's visits took place, "resulting in sick notes without any suicidal tendencies or aggression against others being recorded."

The 27-year-old is believed to have deliberately crashed the plane into the French Alps, killing all 150 people onboard, reported the BBC.

He was diagnosed with a serious depressive episode in 2009 and received treatment for a year and a half.

Officials in Duesseldorf said that the probe had revealed no clue to any motive.

So far, DNAs of 80 victims have been isolated.
