German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Monday expressed his country's willingness to co-operate with India not only in areas related to the economy but also in the field of culture.

The visiting German Foreign Minister said that his country was ready to help India in areas ranging from renewable energy, high-technology and manufacturing besides giving vocational training.

"We have our own experience and this was a chance for us to exchange these experiences. The other point is the situation now here in India is a chance for us. Chance for giving a new impetus to Indo-German economic relations. I think a lot to do and there is a big interest for developing the infrastructure, smart cities, cleaning the rivers, renewable energies," Steinmeier said.

"The main technologies in which we are competent and should exchange and co-operate in renewable energy, high-technology, all fields of manufacturing. I learnt that especially your Prime Minister is interested in vocational training because there are so many young people in India, where there is need to give them necessary skills and to create their own perspective in the Indian economy. So, therefore, vocational training is really a relevant issue in our co-operation," he added

The German Foreign Minister, who called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, further said the two nations should not only develop the economic ties but also look forward to foster closer cooperation in the field of culture.

The German Foreign Minister also extended his condolences to those, who have died in the floods in Jammu and Kashmir.

"I conveyed the condolences of the whole German people regarding the natural disaster in Kashmir. We know that more than 150 people died in the floods and, therefore, there is a need to convey our sympathies," he said.
