Arsenal's Mesut Ozil has joined the list of German players, who recently got injured, but the midfielder has expressed confidence that he will be fit in time to feature for World Cup.

The 29-year-old did not play in Arsenal's previous five Premier League matches before being also ruled out of the club's remaining two matches owing to a back problem.

Most recently, he also watched on the Emirates Stadium club's crushing 5-0 win over Burnley, which was manager Arsene Wenger's final home game.

Talking after the match, Ozil said that he feels quite disappointed to miss the match against Burnley, however, remaining optimistic to join the German national squad ahead of the World Cup.

"It's a pity I missed yesterday's match with my back injury. It'll need some time, but I'm sure I'll fully recover in time for the World Cup," the German player wrote on Instagram.

Ozil, who played in Arsenal's 1-0 Europa League semi-final second leg defeat at Atletico Madrid last week, also paid tribute to outgoing manager Arsene Wenger--who is ending his illustrious 22-year tenure in north London.

"Once again I'd like to thank our boss for everything. It was an honour playing for you, Monsieur Wenger! Thanks for all your advice and memories we shared together," he said.

Ozil has now joined Manuel Neuer and Jerome Boateng, who are also facing a race against time, on the injury list.

The World Cup is slated to begin from June 14, with Germany playing their first group match against Mexico in Moscow on June 17.
