'Ghostbuster' actor Dan Aykroyd joined the ranks of the Hinds County Sheriff Department's reserve unit on Friday.
According to the Clarion-Ledger, the 61-year-old-star approached the department after spending time in the Magnolia State while filming 'Get on Up' - a James Brown biopic in Aykroyd plays the late singer's manager, Ben Bart.
Aykroyd said at the swearing-in ceremony that it was an honor to join the ranks, and that he understood the challenges that law enforcement face in today's world.
He also received a badge and uniform before heading back to the movie set, People magazine reported.
Aykroyd has previously served two law enforcement agencies in Louisiana for almost 16 years.
