Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad visited the various border camps for people displaced due to the incessant ceasefire violations here on Thursday and praised those who are facing fire and bullets for the sovereignty of the country.
"I salute all including women, children, girls and everyone who is facing fire and bullet for the sovereignty of country on the pattern of our security forces including BSF and Army. I also salute all such jawans of security force who are fighting for the sake of the country on the border." Azad said while addressing the audience at the border migrant camp.
"I am sorry to say that our old persons are facing trouble in such circumstances, whenever the firing takes place the border people are the first ones to be affected. Innocent people are facing the firing from Pakistan since 65 years from the partition of Pakistan," he added.
Azad also said that he had already highlighted the issues of people living at the border with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The issues include land plots at safer places, reservation for International Border on the pattern of LoC, special recruitment drive in security forces for border youth, compensation of land on zero line, insurance of crops, animals, human beings and houses.
"Compensation of five lakhs will also be given to anybody killed in Pak firing and Rs 50,000 if injured," Azad announced.
"The festival of Eid is disturbed due to flood and Diwali is also distributed due to Pakistan firing on border as people are forced to migrate. Real celebration of festival is possible only when firing stops and everyone is living with peace and love," he added.
