Joint Commissioner of the Delhi Police, Mukesh Kumar Meena on Tuesday said that he is holding charge as the force's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) chief because he has received orders from the 'competent authority'.

"I took charge as ACB head on June 8. After taking charge, whatever are the normal procedures have been taken by us. I held a meeting with the staff and reviewed everything. I am still holding charge because I have got orders from the competent authorities," Meena told media persons.

"Our actions will be impartial and will be in accordance with the law," he added.

Earlier, the GNCTD Directorate of Vigilance Sukesh Kumar Jain asked Meena to revert to the Delhi Police, stating that the ACB has no sanctioned post of a Joint CP rank officer.

However, media reports stated that Meena, in a letter to Jain, warned the latter that his request amounted to interfering in the work of a policeman, adding that he could be liable to face legal action for the same.

Meena was appointed as Delhi's Anti Corruption Branch chief by Jung on Monday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that the appointment is in contempt of court, because the Delhi High Court had clarified that the ACB comes under the jurisdiction of the Delhi Government.
