In a major shot in the arm for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh announced on Monday that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) will lend crucial support to the BJP candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"We are grateful to the GJM for offering their backing to the BJP. They are to ready to lend support to any candidate that the BJP chooses to field from Darjeeling. I take this opportunity to thank GJM chief Bimal Gurung and his partymen." Singh said.
In the 2009 general elections, the GJM had supported our candidate from Darjeeling, and we were victorious." Singh recalled.
