Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) President Bimal Gurung has postponed his proposed public appearance scheduled for October 30 indefinitely, following his party's advice.
"GJM officials recommended Gurung to desist from the plan lest it gives the West Bengal Government an opportunity and excuse to jeopardize the upcoming talks," an official statement read.
Prospective dates for his public appearances will be announced soon.
The GJM President has been out of public sight since June, and has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), in connection with a grenade attack on the Kalimpong Police Station, and a bomb attack in Darjeeling's Chowk Bazar area.
