Former Congress leader G K Vasan on Friday revived his father's Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) Party here.
The TMC had been launched by Vasan's father G K Moopanar in 1996 after he broke away from the Congress, forming the organisation as a protest over the decision of the-then party high command to form an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
However, the TMC was later merged with the Congress, after Sonia Gandhi took charge as the president of the party.
After an association of 14 years with the Congress, Vasan decided to break away and form a new party earlier this month, stating his dissatisfaction with decisions taken on important issues.
He squarely blamed the Congress leadership in New Delhi for the same.
