Global Indian International School (GIIS), a global network of premier international schools on Wednesday announced the launch of its second campus in Tokyo in response to strong demand from expatriate and Japanese families desiring exceptional international education for their children.
The new state-of-the-art campus in Higashi Kasai offers an advanced and immersive learning environment to maximize learning opportunities for every student, dedicating an entire floor to laboratories, activity rooms and a range of facilities fitted with the latest technologies.
With the original Tokyo campus operating at maximum capacity, accommodating over 600 students representing 17 nationalities including Japanese, the new 520-seat facility was introduced to enable the further expansion of GIIS in Japan. The Tokyo school was founded in 2006, with less than 50 students, and today offers a complete educational offering from kindergarten through grade 12. Historically established to cater to expatriate Indian communities in Tokyo, the student body demographics have diversified over the years, welcoming increasingly more non-Indian students.
The new Higashi Kasai Secondary Campus, located approximately three kilometres from the original Tokyo campus in Nishi Kasai, serves as a secondary school campus for all GIIS Tokyo students in grades 4-12, and is open for Japanese, expatriate and Indian students. GIIS welcomes all families seeking a high quality international curriculum for their children, as it meets the highest standards of mathematics, science, IT education and English, which is taught as the first language.
"We are delighted to announce to our local community, our students, parents, teachers and staff, the opening of our new campus in Tokyo. Japan offers a fast-growing market, and the new campus will have impressive facilities to support the school in offering an outstanding international education to a broader array of international and Japanese students in Tokyo," said Kotaro Tamura, Advisory Board, GIIS Tokyo.
"As Tokyo's international community continues to expand, so has GIIS' student body, and we've been deeply committed to our Tokyo school since its launch in 2006. The number of students in Tokyo has doubled annually over the past three consecutive years, and we are pleased to be welcoming increasingly more students from Japan, as well as from other countries around the world," added Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, India and Japan, GIIS.
