Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for Mopa greenfield international airport and Tuem electronic manufacturing cluster in Goa.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Phase 3 A of Goa Shipyard Limited.
While addressing a gathering at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Bambolim near Panaji, Prime Minister Modi said that the new airport will give a boost to tourism.
"With the new airport the impetus to tourism will be immense. He said, a digitally trained , modern and youth driven Goa is being shaped today," said Prime Minister Modi.
The Prime Minister also took the occasion to laud Defense Minister and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for ushering in a political culture in Goa and taking the state to new heights of progress.
The first phase of the airport is expected to be commissioned in the financial year 2019-20.

The Airport will have the capacity to handle 28 million passengers annually while its runway will be capable to land A 380 Jumbo Jet.
The Tuem electronic city is expected to generate 50,000 jobs for the youth in the state.
