General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Victor Force, S.T. Upasani, on Monday said adequate security arrangements will be made during the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
"No need to worry for election process from security side. I want to assure you that all the security forces in South Kashmir want to make sure to you that the elections will take place normally and we will try our best that there is no interference," said Upasani.
"I can assure you that we are aware of what is going in terms of militancy and we are taking steps. The next few weeks are totally safe and we can assure you a safe election. We will make sure that incidents like the Wagah border will not repeat here," he added.
Upasani further said, "We will contact all the soft targets like the panch, the sarpanch and similar others, they have our full support and we will try that nobody is hurt. We have already contacted many in this regard."
The assembly polls will be held in five phases in Jammu and Kashmir between November 25 and December 20. The counting of votes will take place on December 23.
