Two different memoirs on James Brown by his daughter Yamma Brown and son Daryl Brown has revealed about his disturbing world.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Yamma, in her new memoir 'Cold Sweat', detailed how the legendary singer used to beat his second wife Dee Dee, while Daryl, in his book, disclosed his "gut feeling" that his father was murdered.
Yamma wrote that when her mom was thrown against walls, it used to sound "like thunder rolling through the house", after which the house would go completely quiet, which was the worst sound because that's when she and her sister Deanna would wonder if their mother was alive or dead and if they would be next.
Yamma also described the scene, which she witnessed at the age of 5, where her mother was dressed in her blue and white robe and her legs were splayed wide open and her father was straddling her, pummeling her with clenched fists.
In his recent memoir 'Inside the Godfather of Soul', Yamma's half brother alleged that his father was murdered by members of the late singer's inner circle but offers no concrete evidence.
Daryl further mentioned that he believes Darren Lumar's murder (he was shot in his garage in 2008) was tied into James Brown's murder and that the 1973 death of his brother Teddy Brown in a car accident was actually a murder, where he was shot before the car crashed.
Both of the books have offered harsh takes on Brown's friends, advisers and business associates and are dismissive of his later wives.
