Golf analyst Brandel Chamblee has reportedly admitted that he went too far by hinting that world number one Tiger Woods had cheated, in his column for a golf website.
Chamblee, who also revealed that his association with the website would be ending at the end of this year, made the claim followed the 14-times major winner receiving penalties at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, the Masters, the FedEx Cup play-off events and the Players Championship this year.
However, The Scotsman reports that Chamblee apologised for making the statement that Woods was 'cavalier about the rules', adding that he went too far when he compared those incidents to cheating as cheating involves intent.
Chamblee further said that he made a mistake in assuming to know with complete certainty about what Woods' intent was in any of those situations, adding that he does not have a vendetta against Woods.
Chamblee further said that at times, he could be a bit forceful with his opinions, like this instance, adding that even his son reprimanded him for failing to be more diplomatic.
