Google has released an update for its Hangout app for Android with a new material design and features.
According to the Verge, the Google Hangout 4.0 adds a floating compose button, simplifies the interface and apparently adds in all of the animated flourishes the users would expect from a Material Design app. Hangouts' Android Wear app should also be looking a bit nicer today.
The app retains its green accent color.
In addition, Google says that Hangouts 4.0 for Android should send messages faster and more reliably.
The update also adds back in the ability to set custom status messages and it is supposed to consume less of battery.
Hangout 4.0 is already available on iOS for about a month.
