Under the Government of India's Tribal Sub Plan, many schemes have been launched in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The aim of these schemes is to raise the education standards of tribal areas such as Kotranka, Budhal and Dharhal.

"We have benefitted from the schemes and for that we thank the government. Earlier, we used to have problems to study. It used to rain and buildings were not properly built. Now, it is all good...The buildings are also okay and we have proper places to sit now. All our troubles have been solved," said Shoket, a tribal student.

Another resident, Mohammad Sharif said, "I want to thank the government. Earlier, we used to face problems in school. We had to sit outside. Now, the beginning looks good. Buildings are being built. All others works are being done, but we have a shortage of staff."

The government has provided school buildings, model education programmes, computer internet facility, smart classes, free food, mid day meals and free uniforms to help students in these areas. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe students stand to benefit from these schemes as well.
