Govt. to launch a new helpline for minorities: K. Rahman Khan

The Minorities Affairs Ministry will soon launch a new helpline for the minorities.

Minorities Affairs Minister Dr. K. Rahman Khan, who gave this information during an interaction with the Christian community here today, said the minorities can call up the helpline for lodging complaints against human rights violations and also seek information on various welfare programmes of minorities Affairs ministry.

He disclosed that the Minorities Affairs Ministry's allocation was increased from 8000 crores to 17,000 crore rupees in the current year apart from one lakh crore rupees coming from 11 different ministries of the Central Government under Prime Minister's 15 point programme.

Dr. Khan said the Minorities Affairs Ministry is empanelling NGOs to reach out its programmes to the minority communities who comprise of 20 percent of the total population.

The Minorities Affairs Minister, who mentioned about the new programmes of his ministry for youths, asked the NGOs to come forward to create awareness about these, among their communities.
