Govt. will play by rule book: Jaitley on Lalit Modi controversy

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said that the NDA Government would play by the rule book and make sure that absolute standards of probity are maintained.

Jaitley said this while responding to a question on the Lalit Modi controversy during his ongoing visit to the United States.

He further said that the Centre had done nothing wrong and there was no question of going on the back foot.

The Finance Minister said that land, labour and taxation were the three areas which needed absolute reforms.

Talking about the steps taken by the NDA Government, he said the aggression in tax policy has been subdued and taxation and structures becoming lot more compatible and lot less adversarial.

Jaitley further said the Central Government would create a permanent consultation mechanism to address the investors' concerns and would provide globally compatible business environment.
