The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and Finance Minister Jaitley were constantly working to bring back the economy on track, strengthen it and make the country attractive for investments.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley are consistently working to bring back the economy on track, strengthen it, make it attractive for investments and simultaneously expand activity so that it helps everyone in the country," BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told ANI here
He said the second generation reforms announced by Jaitley earlier today would make the economy responsive to the requirements of the country.
"From that point of view, second generation reforms will be a priority area, which he (Arun Jaitley) is speaking of and he is talking about in terms of making India more attractive for investment and making economy responsive to the requirements of India," he added.
Meanwhile, CPI leader D. Raja hit out at the BJP for having no clarity.
"These statements from the Finance Minister show the utter confusion and having no clarity on what they want to do. Definitely, BJP is one party which has strongly committed to neo-liberal economic policies and reforms. In fact, BJP has no inhibitions to identify with the leading corporate houses in the country and openly inviting FDI in every sector, thereby making the country vulnerable," he pointed out.
According to reports, Jaitley today promised a whole set of second generation reforms in the next Union Budget as the country needs larger opening out in more sectors, stability of policy and tax regime.
