Union Law and Justice Minister D.V.Sadananda Gowda has urged other ministries to use the Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS) for uploading of data related to them.

Gowda offered the requisite training and guidance and any other related assistance to the officials for uploading information and also for preparing the LIMBS website by the Department of Legal Affairs.

In a letter the minister has stated that as part of the e-Governance initiative, his ministry has started working on putting in place this online system of managing and monitoring all court cases in which Government of India is a party.

This means that once fed, information relating to all court/tribunal cases being handled by the various Ministries/Departments and other organs of the Government of India will be available on a single web-based online application.

Also, this application caters to a wide range of requirements for various departments and administrative authorities for effective monitoring of court matters.

The LIMBS is very user-friendly and capable of producing various sets of customized MIS reports which are required for effective monitoring. It also provides timely reminder alerts though SMS.
