'Gram sabha special summary revision' intended to purify electoral process extended by two weeks: CEO

A State Chief Election Officer has informed that the Gram Sabha Special Summary Revision has been extended by another two weeks.

The Sabha which is meant to purify the electoral process had already concluded on September 24, but to confirm that a fair election takes place, the process has been extended.

Vivek Kumar Dewangan, state CEO said, "The Gram Sabha Special Summary Revision which had already concluded on September 24 last has been extended by another two weeks."

"He also stressed the main purpose of conducting Gram sabha was to purification of electoral rolls. In the process, Booth Level Officers, Supervisors, public representatives were included," he added.

Dewangan further said during the purification exercise, the election authorities intend to clean those electors who have double/multiple entry in the electoral rolls.

"The Election Department is trying its best to bring out error free final publication of Electoral Rolls on January 2nd 2017, with 1st January 2017 as the qualifying date," he said.
