The Greek parliament has backed the government's economic reform plans for a new bailout aimed at ending the debt crisis of the country.

According to the BBC, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said he had a "strong mandate" to complete negotiations with Greek creditors after winning cross-party support in a late-night vote.

Some of Tsipras' MPs withheld their support in protest at austerity measures contained in the new package.

Eurozone finance ministers will study the proposals later.

Greek creditors, the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund, believe that the plan is positive.
