A grenade planted at a stone crusher in Thoubal District of Manipur exploded on Monday, leaving four injured. One of the injured was said to be critical.
"The blast took place when six of them was on work and have loaded stones in the stone crusher machine and came down. After the completion, the machine-man started the machine, in which the grenade which was planted as booby trap at the mouth of the multi sieving portion of the stone crushing unit, exploded and incurred injuries to four of them who were standing nearby," said Kamla, a labourer.
Immediately after the blast, the injured were evacuated at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Emergency Service.
Oinam Hemlet, who is also the co-owner of the stone crushing unit, suspects that the attack was made by an outfit who had demanded a sum of Rs.40000 from him a month back.
