The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said that the long with standing Goods and Service Tax (GST) Bill will mark an important step towards the growth of Indian Economy.
As the GST Bill would be presented today in the Rajya Sabha, BJP leader Nalin Kolhi hoped that the bill passes with everyone's consensus .
"We all are looking forward to it and this is going to be an important step towards the further economic growth and consolidation of the economic growth of the country," Kohli told ANI.
Last week, the Union Cabinet had cleared changes in the Bill dropping one percent additional tax on inter-state sales and providing guarantee to compensate states for any revenue loss in the first five years of rollout.
The government needs the support of two-third members of the Upper House to amend the Constitution to turn the GST into law.
The GST Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha in May last year but is stuck in the Rajya Sabha due to resistance from the opposition.
