Taylor Swift's mother has been diagnosed with cancer, and the singer shared the sad news with her fans because her mom, Andrea Finlay, asked her to do so.
The 25-year-old singer took to Twitter and wrote to her nearly 56 million followers, "I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I'd like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know," TMZ.com reported.
She's got an important battle to fight, she added.
The 'Blank Space' hitmaker continued saying that it was only after she had pushed her mom for a checkup, that she went and results came, and added that she had wanted others to know so that they could get their parents to take out time from their busy schedules and get checked.
Also, it cleared things on why the singer hadn't been at as many concerts lately.
Swift didn't disclose what type of cancer her mother, 57, has or what the prognosis was.
