Assam capital Guwahti will play host to the 9th National Youth Festival from today.
The festival's theme this year is, 'Youth for Clean, Green and Progressive India'.
According to reports, a mascot performing the Sattriya dance and named as Baandhav has been designed.
Different competitions, exhibitions, cultural programmes, and seminars will be held during the five-day long festival which has been organised by the Centre and the Assam Government.
Over 5,000 delegates from across the country are expected to take part in the festival.
Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister for State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi are among those who will attend the opening ceremony to be held at the Nehru Stadium.
