In a major boost to get people across the world to sing the Earth Anthem, the global organization Habitat for Humanity International has shown its support for the anthem written and produced by Indian poet-diplomat Abhay K.
In a signed written statement, Heron Holloway, the Director of Communications, Asia-Pacific, Habitat for Humanity International said, "We commend you (Abhay K) on your efforts to create an 'earth anthem' and are delighted to support its promotion. We will be playing the song you have written and produced at Habitat for Humanity Nepal's Everest Build III in Chitwan on 16 November 2014."
Habitat for Humanity brings hundreds of thousands of people together every year, spanning diverse nationalities, religions, races and backgrounds, all united in the vision of creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Similarly, D.O Aruna Paul Simittrarachchi, Country Representative, Habitat for Humanity Nepal said in a written statement,"We are pleased to be part of your initiative to make the world a better place to live. Habitat for Humanity International is happy to endorse the initiative and so please do add 'Habitat for Humanity' to the list of organizations that endorse the 'Earth Anthem'."
The Earth Anthem written and produced by Abhay K was released on the occasion of World Environment Day in June 2013 by Kapil Sibal and Shashi Tharoor at the function organized by Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi.
Since then, it has been endorsed by celebrities such as Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, Hollywood actor Robert Lin, Captain of Nepal's National Cricket Team Paras Khadka, CNN Hero Pushpa Basnet among others. Several schools across the world use the Earth Anthem during morning assembly as well as on occasions such as the World Environment Day and Earth Day.
