Congress Spokesperson Ajay Maken on Tuesday sarcastically said that it now it was upto the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to decide whether it wanted to form a government in Maharashtra with the support of a 'Hafta Vasooli' party or a 'Naturally Corrupt Party.'
"It is for BJP to decide whether they want an alliance with a 'Hafta Vasooli' party (Shiv-Sena) or a 'Naturally Corrupt Party' like they had said earlier," said Maken.
In Maharashtra, the BJP emerged as the single largest party, winning 122 seats, though it fell short of establishing an outright majority in the 288-member state assembly.
The BJP, which has made it clear that it will be going ahead with formation of a government in Maharashtra, has so far kept both the NCP and the Shiv Sena guessing about whether it wants either party's support.
Taking a dig at the Shiv Sena, BJP chief Amit Shah had on Sunday maintained that his party could not be held responsible for breaking the 25-year-old alliance.
The NCP has offered unconditional support to the BJP from outside to from the next government in the state.
The BJP has appointed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and party general secretary J.P. Nadda as its central observers to decide on who will be the leader of the BJP legislative party in Maharashtra.
