Half Step Rock, a Bangalore based startup and a holistic western music learning and production institute today announced its first interim investment from Pankaj Kumar Roy, a city-based entrepreneur.
The undisclosed amount was raised to launch Half Step Rock's music-cum-video production arm within HSNebulaTM- a social media and events platform to promote rock music and artists.
Half Step Rock was founded by Ajay Chanam and two other co-founders in November 2014 with a vision to create a one stop shop for independent artists where they can learn professional music and also receive support in establishing themselves in the industry.
A rock songwriter, composer and singer, Ajay gained recognition recently in the past one year when both his Hindi Rock Singles, 'Yeh Pal' and 'Choona Hai Mana' listed among the top 50 most popular music videos on MTV Indies-world's largest platform for Independent Music.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay said, "This interim investment will help us stay nimble and allow us to demonstrate our talent in music video production, before we approach larger institutional investors in a few months from now. Our other business wings of song writing, music production and teaching are already operational, and with the video production also starting now, our offerings come a full circle and we will be able to fire all guns moving forward. Other than substantially lowering costs of producing quality videos thereby making it affordable to a larger pool than it is currently today, we will offer integrated solutions for music and video production to a different rapidly emerging strata in the market."
Pankaj Kumar Roy added, "Social media has virtually eliminated barriers to entry for fresh talent and people are leveraging video more and more as their preferred content in promoting themselves. The video production industry is still however largely unstructured, and Half Step Rock's vision to offer a calibrated solution will, besides defining this new emerging market promote and bring to public attention many new talented faces."
