Australian Test spearhead Ryan Harris has said that his bowling and fitness were still a work in progress ahead of the return Ashes series despite turning in a strong performance during his side Queensland's Ryobi Cup win over South Australia.

Despite a modest return of 1-36 off eight overs, Harris, who was playing in just his second match since a two-month break following an injury, bowled with both good speed and bounce, watched by Australian coach Darren Lehmann.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, however, Harris, who starred in Australia's 3-0 Ashes series loss in the UK before injuring a hamstring, said his bowling and fitness were still a work in progress, although he added that it had felt a little better during the Ryobi Cup match.

However, Harris admitted that he still has some more work and bowling to do, adding that the more he works, the better he should get.
