Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday expressed confidence that the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) summons to her brother and Punjab Minister Bikram Majithia would prove his innocence, further stating that the Congress was witch-hunting him.
"A criminal has given a name to the media. The ED will investigate the matter. However, I wonder why the Congress is so keen to have the case transferred from the ED to some other agency," Harsimrat told ANI.
"This media trial, this witch-hunting by the opposition was taking place on the unsubstantiated evidence given by a criminal. I am glad that the ED has been given the case as it will finally bring the truth out," she added.
Earlier this week, the ED reportedly summoned Majithia based on the statements of alleged drug dealer Jagdish Bhola and local politician Bittu Aulakh, who have claimed that the Punjab Minister was involved in the narcotics trade.
Majithia has denied the charges.
