Haryana Chief Minister B.S. Hooda on Friday flagged off relief materials for people affected in the devastating floods in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Jammu and Kashmir's situation is very serious. We are sending 50,000 quilts and some medicines," Hooda said.

"I would like to congratulate the Indian Army. Everyone should come together and help the people of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

The Bihar Government had also dispatched relief materials for the people stuck in the floods.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat had earlier announced an aid of Rs 10 crores, while the Odisha government had announced financial aid of Rs five crores.

Around one lakh people have been rescued so far by the armed forces and NDRF from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the state.

The water levels have receded but the situation in most parts of Srinagar continues to be grim.
