Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday appealed to the people of Haryana to cast their votes on October 15 and give clear majority to her party's candidates as the state had seen immense development under the Congress Party's rule.
"We have always given priority to public interest. Haryana has progressed in various fields over 10 years; the interests of all sections have been looked into. I appeal to you all to cast your votes on October 15 and give clear majority to our candidates," said Gandhi while addressing her second rally in Haryana's Sirsa district today.
She also reminded the people that the country's first girls' medical college was opened in Haryana's Sonipat district.
"We have always worked for the welfare of the people and kept their interests on priority. There was a time in Haryana when there was fear and crime in the state, but in the last 10 years, the Congress has established rule of law," Gandhi added.
She appreciated the Haryana government for keeping the state clean and said that the way they have emphasized on cleanliness is commendable.
She also recalled the sacrifices of soldiers belonging to Haryana and said, "This is a land of soldiers, who sacrificed their lives and hardworking farmers, we are proud of this land."

Asking the people to not believe in such parties which only want to fulfill their selfish motives, Gandhi said as an aware audience they can very well understand the difference between right and wrong.
Earlier today, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda also addressed a rally in Sirsa where he lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying that they can never be in the favor of poor, farmers and backward classes.
"We will give Rs 1500 as old age pension from November 1; promises made by the BJP are hollow. If you want prosperity of farmers, poor and the state, you will have to strengthen the Congress," said Hooda.
He also ridiculed BJP's win in Lok Sabha elections saying, "When we analyzed the results of Lok Sabha polls, we found out that people didn't cast their votes on the policies of the BJP."
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also addressed a rally in Haryana's Karnal district. It was one of the ten rallies scheduled to be addressed by him before the elections for the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly are held on October 15.
