A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on Friday for the construction of a bridge over the River Yamuna.

Once constructed, the bridge will connect Bilaspur-Khojkipur Road of Haryana with Tanda-Kurdi-Nangal-Sai Mandir Chaproli-Barot Road in Uttar Pradesh.

Principal secretaries of both states signed the MoUs in the presence of Haryana Chief MInister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Akhilesh Yadav.

"I know the members of the bridge construction company will agree to the fact that two states are going to be connected. People living in both states are going to be connected. Their problems of travelling will be addressed after the bridge is constructed. The relationship between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh is going to get stronger. I congratulate Hooda sir once again," said Yadav.

The proposed bridge will be 667.53 metre long and provide direct connectivity to villages of both the states.

"The MoU signed today is to benefit people from both states. And I am very sure that with more such projects, the cooperation between the two states will continue (sic)," said Hooda.

The estimated cost of the bridge is around Rs.108.68 crores.
