Former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden has slammed England player Kevin Pietersen for his remarks about Brisbane being unknown outside of Australia and said he would appreciate the city more if he was bold enough to widen his narrow view of the world.
According to News.com.au, Pietersen took a swipe at Brisbane, saying earlier this week that no one outside of Australia had heard of the city and he would rather watch paint dry than experience what it has to offer.
However Hayden, one of Queensland's favourite sporting sons with 8625 Test runs at 50.73, said Pietersen has no idea.
He said that it was disrespectful to say what he said, adding that he was missing the point and at the end of the day, there were great people in Brisbane and opportunities to enjoy the place.
