Heavy rains have triggered a flood-like situation in Assam's Kokrajhar District.
So grave is the situation, that the authorities are shifting people to safer places.
Rescue operations are said to be underway. The army has said that it has rescued 1,500 people from the worst flood affected areas of Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar Districts.
The state administration has said that flood waters are likely to release in a day or two. It said the rains could stop by this evening.
As per reports, one woman, who was swept away by flood waters after a vehicle in which she was travelling plunged into Gouranga River in Dhubri District last night, has been rescued.
A search has been launched for another four persons.
