Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has revealed that he had once considered playing rugby professionally before finally choosing a career in Australian cricket.

Henriques was earmarked by the scouts of Australian rugby team St George Illawarra as a player with potential 11 years ago after seeing his performance as a strongly built teenager for a junior league rugby team.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, however, Henriques admitted that he had to pick his choice at a fairly young age as money in both the games indicated that the clubs and the associations would not tolerate him not turning up for training.

Stating that as a sportsman, the amount of time sports demand from an amateur wanting to turn professional is intense, Henriques also said that he did not have a hard time choosing cricket as even as a child, he always had a passion for the baggy green, although he added that he missed the contact and the adrenaline from rugby league.

Meanwhile, Henriques joked that Australian woman cricketer Ellyse Perry, who has made both her debuts in cricket and football, made male athletes such as him appear one-dimensional.
