Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward reportedly fired David Moyes from his manager post after holding a crisis talks at the club's training ground.
Moyes, who has been axed due to United's sudden decline during his 10-month charge as club boss, reportedly met Woodward at Carrington long before the players were expected to report for training.
According to the Daily Star, Moyes got to know that he would be axed as Woodward talked things through with the Scot.
United reportedly released a 33-word statement on their website following Moyes' discussion with Woodward, confirming that the Scot had departed from Old Trafford.
United said in their statement that the club has announced that Moyes has left the club, adding that the club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity the Scot brought to the role.
Dutch coach Louis van Gaal, who will resign from his post as Netherlands coach following the World Cup in Brazil, has been strongly linked to take chare of United after the Premier League season ends, the report added.
