Though cell phones have become a necessary part of our daily lives, it is important to know when to silence or turn them off, like during meals, while studying or when on the Internet.
Cell phones can interfere in the lives of those who feel anxious about turning them off, especially those who refuse to turn them off at all, a new study has revealed.
According to the research conducted by Courtney Stewart from Indiana Prevention Resource Center, too much information can overwhelm our senses and leave us feeling depleted. So it is important to put the phone down and spend some time talking with your pals face to face.
Stewart said that students with the habit of checking the phone time and again could experience the inability to concentrate on the task at hand. So it is better to turn your phone off while doing homework or in a meeting.
The researcher said that one can reduce cell phone usage by turning the phone off while in the movie theatre, or leaving it in the car.
It has been suggested not to bring a phone to the dinner table as it is better to engage in meaningful face to face conversations with family or friends.

One should also resist the urge to tweet or update a Facebook status while at work.
Stewart said that addictive cell phone behaviours can even put an individual's life at risk, because of distractive driving or walking. So it is advisable to look up for directions before getting in the car to avoid looking at a GPS while driving.
The study recommended that a person can also reduce the cell phone addiction by going on a walk, with a partner, child or pet, with the phone resting at home.
