A four-member high level delegation, led by Railway Board Chairman A.K. Mittal, is going on an official visit to China and Japan from June 12 to enhance international bilateral cooperation in the railway sector.

The delegation will also visit the modern railway stations at Shanghai and Beijing, along with the coach manufacturing unit of Chinese Railways, which supplies coaches to the Kolkata Metro. The team will also discuss the modalities for expediting various activities to ensure their scheduled delivery.

In Japan, the delegation will meet top officials in that nation's Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport and will discuss the joint feasibility study of the Mumbai-Ahmadabad high speed corridor and other issues of mutual interest.

A visit to modern training centre of Japanese Railways and to propulsion equipment manufacturing unit of Toshiba is also scheduled.
