High level Japanese delegation visits Amity University in Noida

A high level Japanese delegation from the Toyo University visited Amity University in Noida today.

The delegation was led by Toyo University's Professor Koichi Maekawa, who is the Director of Bio-electronics Research Center, from one of the renowned Japanese Universities and had visited the university to seek potential areas of mutual collaboration in various academic programmes.

Maekawa was also accompanied by Dr. D. Sakthi Kumar, Co-Director of International Affairs, Bio electronics Research Center, Toyo University, and the two were welcomed by Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation president Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Amity's Group Addl. Vice Chancellor Dr. Gurinder Singh, Chief Scientist of Amity Dr. Krishna Lal, and HOIs of various departments.

During the visit, various collaborative options were mooted including the joint supervision of PhD programmes, establishment of joint Centre of Excellence for Bio-Nano Electronic Research, conducting an International Conference in Amity University, articulation of various academic programmes and encouraging student and faculty exchange programmes.

Welcoming the guests, Selvamurthy highlighted the exemplary achievements of Amity University.

He further briefed them about the historical background of the University, its academic programmes, facilities achievements, patents filed by researchers and scientists and accreditations of the University.

Selvamurthy added that Life Sciences is evolving at a fast pace and the convergence of Bio technology with Nano Technology and Information will be the future of Science. The association of Amity University with Toyo University will lead to an exponential growth in research and academics.

Maekawa gave a brief about Toyo University and their research on Nano Technology, Molecular Energy, Bio Technology, etc.

He said that the delegation is impressed with the linkages of Amity with international universities.

He further added that Amity not only nurtures talent but also nurtures partnerships. He also appreciated the hard-work put in by faculty members and staff and wished for a mutually beneficial relationship between the respective institutes.

The delegation took a round of the campus and visited the labs of Amity Institute of Microbial Technology, Amity Institute of Advanced Research and studies, Amity Institute of Nano Technology, Amity Institute of Bio Technology, and Incubator.
