Hillary urges Trump to speak out against hate crimes

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has urged President Donald Trump to speak out against hate crimes following a rise of the same across the country.

"With threats & hate crimes on rise, we shouldn't have to tell @POTUS to do his part. He must step up & speak out," Hillary tweeted.

Hillary's tweet was linked with the news story depicting the plight of Sunayana Dumala, whose husband, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, was killed by a gunman in an alleged racial attack Austins Bar & Grill in Olathe.

Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer last week said that it was too early to call the act a hate crime.

This comes in wake after an Indian engineer was shot to dead in Kansas, U.S. in an alleged racial attack, after the gunman was heard shouting "get out of my country".

According to local media, the gunman Adam Purinton, 51 who is a Navy veteran, was arrested after fleeing the when he allegedly blasted off several rounds on Thursday.

The Police say Purinton shot and killed Srinivas Kuchibhotla, an engineer at GPS maker Garmin International and wounded his colleague Alok Madasani.

He was reportedly taken into custody by the police at Applebee's in Clinton, Missouri, about 82 miles southeast of Olathe.

Purinton was working as desktop support specialist for an information technology company in the Kansas City area.
