Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday said that if anybody wanted to re-covert to Hinduism he or she has the right to do so and added that any Hindu organization is entitled to organize a celebration to facilitate the same.
"They have no law to stop the conversion and the government of Uttar Pradesh is in a total chaos. However, if anybody wants to re-covert and come back to Hinduism he is welcome and the RSS or the VHP any Hindu organization is entitled to organize a celebration or an occasion by which this can be facilitated," said Swamy.
Last week, around 200 people were reportedly converted to Hinduism in a ceremony in Agra by groups linked to the BJP's ideological mentor RSS.
The Bajrang Dal and the Dharam Jagran Manch, the groups that performed the mass conversions, reportedly claimed that the families were originally Hindus and converted to Islam around 30 years ago.
