England football team manager Roy Hodgson has planned to appoint Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney who also plays for the England national team, as captain of the team, despite reports of Rooney wanting to quit United.
The England boss plans to name Rooney as the captain of the England team in upcoming matches, the Sun reports.
Hodgson said he believes that Rooney enjoyed his experience as a captain against San Marino and was certain that Rooney will definitely want to captain England again.
Hodgson said that he is not concerned with Rooney's poor performances in United, although he hoped that the problems he is facing at the club will not affect England.
Hodgson further said that Rooney has assured him that his priority is to play for England, adding that he does not doubt the talented football player.
According to the report, Rooney's dissatisfaction stems from the fact that he has been included as a midfielder and not in a place up front in United.
